Serifos Sunset Race: Experience Serifos in a Whole New Way

Serifos is one of the most authentic islands in the Cyclades, where unspoiled natural beauty, golden beaches and scenic coastal trails create the perfect setting for unforgettable experiences. Against this breathtaking backdrop, the Serifos Sunset Race brings together sport and travel, inviting runners, swimmers and visitors to discover the island from a completely different perspective. Framed by the spectacular colours of the Aegean sunset, the event goes far beyond a race, becoming a true celebration of nature, the sea and authentic Cycladic hospitality.

Since 2013, the Serifos Sunset Race has grown into one of the Cyclades’ most celebrated sporting events, attracting participants from Greece and abroad. The programme features 5 km and 10 km road races, open-water swimming races of 750 m, 1,500 m and 3,000 m, as well as children’s races and a variety of parallel activities. Designed for experienced athletes, families and travellers alike, the event offers a unique opportunity to combine an active getaway with the discovery of one of Greece’s most charming islands.

What truly sets the event apart is its stunning seaside routes and the magical atmosphere created by the famous Serifos sunset. Runners follow scenic coastal roads passing the beaches of Vagia, Ganema and Koutalas, surrounded by spectacular views that few sporting events can match. The following day, swimmers compete in the crystal-clear waters of Livadi Bay, enjoying an unforgettable open-water experience in one of the island’s most beautiful natural settings.

Beyond the races themselves, the Serifos Sunset Race is the perfect reason to explore everything the island has to offer. Visitors can wander through the picturesque whitewashed streets of Chora, relax on pristine beaches, discover traditional tavernas and explore scenic hiking trails that reveal Serifos’ authentic character. Participants also benefit from exclusive discounts on ferry tickets, accommodation, restaurants and car rentals, making it easy to turn the event into a memorable island escape.

The Serifos Sunset Race 2026 will take place on 12–13 September, once again proving that it is much more than a sporting event. It is an experience that brings people of all ages together while showcasing the island’s extraordinary beauty and demonstrating that the most memorable journeys are those where travel, sport and nature come together in one remarkable destination.
