The Conference of AVTA opened its gates at Peloponnese

At the Conference Center of Costa Navarino, The House of  Events, was held the welcome ceremony of the annual Congress of Travel Agents Association of Great Britain (AVTA), which this year  is taking place in Messinia, October 12-14, with the participation of more than 500 British tour operators and journalists of  international media.

“We dare and this has the effect of increasing the competitive edge of  Peloponnese despite the difficult times for the country “, said the Regional Director of  Peloponnese Mrs. Tatoulis, welcoming  more than 500 British travel agents to ABTA conference in Pylos and Costa Navarino on Monday, October 12, 2015.

“It is our deep political conviction that the Peloponnese region made great strides forward with reliability, consistency and openness and shows the Greece of creativity, effort, unity and a European orientation”,  added the Regional Director of Peloponnese, while stressing that “extroversion gives us more effective results and  Peloponnese becomes a modern attractive destination. ”

The Regional Director of Peloponnese emphasised on  the rich cultural and historical reserve and  mainly  the beauty of  Peloponnese and  the warm hospitality of  its people, addressing to the British tourism professionals during the welcoming ceremony at the marina of Pylos, while expressing satisfaction that the participation of the  tour operators  from the United Kingdom exceeded the corresponding number of  the previous five years.

The Minister of  Tourism Elena Kountoura,  at  the welcoming reception of  the participants as well as at the opening session on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, stated that “we are very proud that ABTA conference was organized in the Peloponnese and Greece” and emphasized the importance of  the British market both nationally and especially for the region of Peloponnese, where the British come first in tourist arrivals.

The President of ABTA, Noel Josephides commented that the organisation of the reception was excellent and conveyed the enthusiasm of the participants, both for the organization, and above all for the beauty and attractiveness of the Peloponnese destination.

The Thematic Antiperifereiarchis Mrs. Konstantina Nikolaki in her greetings, after  referring to the difficult claiming of  the organization,  noted that  the Region of Peloponnese,  in difficult times for  the country, dares and creates better conditions for the present and the future of  the region. She expressed her gratitude for  the cooperation to Costa Navarino , the Aegean, the Ministry of Tourism, the Greek National Tourism Organization and all those who collaborated on the successful organization.

The British Ambassador in Greece Mrs. John Kittmer in his greetings at  the conference,  particularly referred to the project of  the development of  the tourism product in the region of Peloponnese, characterizing it as a familiar and favorite place, but also referred to  the rich history and culture,  by making a speciffic reference to the Battle of  Navarino.

During the tourism seminar,  which was held on Monday October 12, particular attention was attracted by the reference of Mrs Dorren McKenzie, executive member of ABTA, to the Peloponnese Region program for waste management. She noted ” management waste plays a catalytic role in the selection of the place for the conference conduction”, but mainly to the promotion of the tourist product and the design of Region Peloponnese that has been an advantage for her choise.
