Serifos Sunset Race 2026: The Ultimate Cyclades Experience

Serifos Sunset Race returns to the beautiful island of Serifos for its 12th edition on September 12 & 13, 2026, inviting athletes and visitors from Greece and abroad to experience one of the most unique sports events in Cyclades.

A weekend full of sports, nature and authentic island experiences awaits participants with:

  • Running races of 5km & 10km
  • Open water swimming races of 750m, 1.500m & 3.000m
  • Parallel activities and many surprises

Every year, more than 2,500 athletes and visitors choose Serifos during the off-season period in order to experience an event that perfectly combines sports with the breathtaking beauty of the Aegean.

Run next to the sea during sunset

The highlight of the event is undoubtedly the spectacular 5km and 10km sunset races, taking place on the afternoon of Saturday, September 12.

With Vagia beach as the starting point, participants will run next to the sea towards Koutalas bay, passing through the stunning beaches of Vagia, Ganema and Koutalas, while enjoying the magical sunset and the wild beauty of the Cycladic landscape.

The official opening ceremony of the event will take place on the evening of Friday, September 11, at Ano Chora square, featuring music, dancing and local treats.

Open water swimming races

On Sunday, September 13, swimmers will have the opportunity to participate in the open water swimming races at Livadi bay, choosing between three distances:

  • 750m
  • 1.500m
  • 3.000m

The swimming races are scheduled on a different day from the running races, giving all participants the opportunity to compete in both sports, receive separate rankings and benefit from special participation discounts.

Serifos Sunset Race goes Plastic Free!

For yet another year, Serifos Sunset Race proudly supports the SeaChange Greek Islands program of the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation, an important initiative focused on protecting the marine environment of the Cyclades.

The SeaChange Greek Islands team will be present on the island during the event, organizing beach clean-up activities together with participants, while also implementing educational and environmental programs for residents and local businesses.

As part of this collaboration, the event continues its transition into a fully plastic free event, replacing disposable plastic products with environmentally friendly recyclable materials and actively participating in all SeaChange Greek Islands initiatives taking place during the event.
