Athens Flying Week 2026: The Spectacular Air Show Returns to Tanagra

September kicks off with one of the most spectacular events in the Greek skies. Athens Flying Week 2026 returns on September 5 & 6 at Tanagra Air Base, inviting visitors to a two-day celebration of aviation and breathtaking aerial displays.

Over the years, Athens Flying Week has grown into a major international aviation event and, according to its organisers, is the largest air show in Southeastern Europe. Every September, it attracts thousands of visitors, from aviation enthusiasts and photographers to families and travellers from Greece and abroad.

A Weekend with All Eyes on the Sky

At the heart of the weekend is, of course, the Air Show, featuring take-offs, landings and impressive aerial displays that spectators can experience up close. The full 2026 flying schedule has yet to be announced, while confirmed participants are being revealed gradually by the organisers.

But the action is not limited to the skies. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the static aircraft display, get a closer look at impressive aircraft, meet pilots and watch aeromodelling demonstrations. Large screens positioned around the air base will also broadcast the flying action throughout the event.

The gates will open at 09:00 on both days. Visitors can reach Tanagra by car, by coach from Doukissis Plakentias Metro Station, or by train to Oinoi, followed by an approximately 30-minute walk. Those travelling by car will also have access to free parking inside the air base.

For anyone looking for a different kind of day trip from Athens, Athens Flying Week 2026 offers the perfect excuse to look to the skies this September.
