5 Leading Luxury Hospitality Brands Enter the Greek Market

The first hotel opened quietly last year above Kamari in Santorini. It marked the Greek debut of Sandblu Santorini, operating under LXR Hotels & Resorts, Hilton’s luxury collection.

This year, in early May, another milestone followed: a new hotel in Elounda became the first-ever five-star INNSiDE by Meliá property anywhere in the brand’s global portfolio. Just days earlier, in Pefki, Rhodes, Marriott soft-opened Amoh, the island’s first hotel under The Luxury Collection brand.

Three new hotels, across three different Greek islands, opened within less than six weeks. And two more are set to follow in the coming weeks.

On June 27, Fouquet’s Mykonos will open on Paraga Beach, becoming only the fifth Fouquet’s hotel worldwide, joining Paris, New York, Courchevel, and Saint-Barthélemy, while also marking the first Greek venture of France’s Barrière Group. A few weeks later, Parian Chronicle in Paros will begin accepting reservations, representing Hyatt’s first property in Greece under its Destination by Hyatt collection.

Five leading international hospitality brands. Five distinct Greek debuts. All within a remarkably short period.

What makes this trend particularly noteworthy, however, is not the number of openings but the mix of brands involved. Two of the five—Hilton’s LXR and Meliá’s INNSiDE—are launching their first resort properties in Greece, with Meliá going even further by choosing Elounda for the global debut of its five-star INNSiDE concept.
